Abstract

The moral crisis among elementary school students, including bullying, ‎using harsh language, extortion, and low religious enthusiasm, serves as the ‎backdrop for this study. These phenomena indicate a clear connection ‎between formal Islamic education and the process of internalizing character ‎values in students’ daily lives. This study aims to describe and analyze the holistic teaching strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in fostering akhlaqul karimah, and to identify and analyze their implications for character development among students at the elementary education level.‎ The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study ‎design at SDN Kembangringgit, Mojokerto. Data collection was conducted ‎through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and ‎documentation. Data analysis followed Creswell’s six-step procedure with ‎triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure the validity and ‎credibility of the data.‎ Research findings indicate that the internalization of akhlaqul karimah is effectively achieved through four integrated strategies: spiritual conditioning, moral motivation based on the Prophet’s exemplary stories, a personal-emotional approach, and collaboration among teachers. ‎Significant findings reveal that informal interactions outside the classroom more strongly shape character development than formal classroom learning. This result indicates that warm and ‎consistent pedagogical relationships play a more decisive role in the ‎internalization of values than merely conveying content.‎ This research has implications for the development of a holistic learning ecosystem as a new framework for the internalization of Islamic character. In practice, these findings underscore the importance of a ‎consistent, integrated, holistic approach as the key to realizing authentic and sustainable Islamic character education at the elementary school level.
