In the era of digital transformation, literacy is no longer merely a technical skill, but a multidimensional competence rooted in cultural context (situated). This study aims to explore the integration of local wisdom through an ethnopedagogical approach in strengthening the digital literacy of primary school pupils, with a focus on the Nganter Bandeng tradition in Rawabelong, Jakarta. The main issues underpinning this research are the low level of students’ critical thinking skills in filtering information, the prevalence of hoaxes, and the risk of cultural values being eroded due to pragmatic-capitalist globalisation. The research method employed is a qualitative approach using a descriptive case study. Data were collected through participatory observation at the 2026 Bandeng Festival as a ‘living laboratory’, in-depth interviews with local council officials, educators, and cultural practitioners, as well as an analysis of the project-based Merdeka curriculum (P5). The research findings indicate that the integration of the Nganter Bandeng tradition into learning significantly enhances the four pillars of digital literacy, particularly in the dimensions of digital culture and digital ethics. The moral values of Betawi-Chinese cultural harmony and the nyorog tradition have been successfully transformed into creative digital content that strengthens national identity. The use of interactive platforms such as Canva and Google Classroom to explore local history has proven effective in shifting the ‘championship’ mentality towards critical digital self-discipline. In conclusion, the synergy between ethnopedagogical values and digital technology creates an inclusive educational ecosystem, equipping students with the ability to navigate information intelligently whilst ensuring they remain grounded in their local cultural roots amidst the tide of Society 5.0.
