Editorial Workflow

The entire editorial workflow is performed using the Open Journal System (OJS). The editorial workflow gives the Editors the authority to reject any manuscript because of the inappropriateness of its subject, lack of quality, or incorrectness of its results. The Editor cannot assign himself/ herself as an external reviewer of the manuscript. This is to ensure a high-quality, fair, and unbiased peer-review process of every manuscript submitted to the journal since any manuscript must be recommended by two or more external reviewers along with the Editor in charge of the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication in the journal.

1. The manuscript is the work of the Original;
2. Conformity between methodologies and research topics;
3. Novelty (we do not consider meeting report abstracts and preprints on community servers to compromise novelty);
4. Have a good analysis;
5. Provides strong evidence for its conclusions;
6. Of extreme importance to scientists in the specific field;
7. Ideally, interesting to researchers in other related disciplines.

The following is the Editorial Workflow that every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes during the course of the peer-review process.

1. Attaqwa: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Islam relies on the peer review process to uphold the quality and validity of articles that publish. All manuscripts submitted to Attaqwa: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Islam will be peer-reviewed. Attaqwa adheres to a Double-Blind Peer-Review process that is rapid and fair and also ensures a high quality of articles published. This statement is based on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.
2. One editor will usually take each manuscript through from start to finish. The editor determines whether the manuscript fits the journal’s focus and scope. Next, a check for the similarity rate is done using CrossCheck, powered by iThenticate. Any manuscripts out of the journal’s scope or containing plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, are rejected.
3. The editors read all of the newly submitted manuscripts within 5-14 working days and possibly more, due to long queues. The papers may be returned to authors by the Editors prior to review, if judged to be out of scope, out of the limits of the word length guidance, or not sufficiently prepared for publication.
4. If your manuscript is potentially suitable for Attaqwa: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Islam, the editor will send your manuscript to peer reviewers. The Attaqwa: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Islam uses a double-blind system for peer review; both reviewers' and authors’ identities remain anonymous. The paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts. The review process may take 2-3 months. The reviewers will then submit their reports on the manuscripts along with their recommendation of one of the following actions to the Editor:
   1. Accept Submission;
   2. Revisions Required;
   3. Resubmit for Review;
   4. Resubmit Elsewhere;
   5. Decline Submission.

5. The final result of the manuscript review will be sent to the authors. If a revision is necessary, the author is asked to re-submit the revised manuscript incorporating the suggestions and recommendations of the peer reviewer. Notification of the result of the review is by e-mail and author's journal account.
6. To facilitate rapid publication, authors are given a maximum of 6 (six) weeks for revision from the date of notice and our system will send reminders every two weeks to the author. After six weeks, manuscripts will not be revised usually stopped from processing, and removed from the system.
7. Manuscripts that have been accepted for publication will be sent to the copyeditor for the copyediting process. Copyediting is the editing process of manuscripts submitted to improve grammar and clarity of writing. The copyeditor, in collaboration with the author, ensures everything is in place, ensures compliance with the journal bibliography and textual style, and produces edited copies to be sent to the Layout Editor. Then, Layout Editors perform a layout process to be converted into a "galley" file in PDF or HTML format, which will appear in the journal publication format.
8. Before being sent to the publication section, the manuscript (galley file format) will be sent to the proofreading to be read, corrected, and studied for writing errors including the writing format in the manuscript that was done with the author. Typographic and format errors will be corrected by the Layout Editor. Finally, the final manuscript will be sent to the Publication Editor to determine the publication schedule and DOI, update the page on the website and update the metadata.

The decision acceptance for publication, amendment, or rejection will be made by Editors according to reviewers' comments, or recommendations. In certain cases, if needed, the editor may send the manuscript to another reviewer for review (Second Round), before making a decision. Publication of accepted manuscripts including the sequence of published manuscripts will be made by the Editor in Chief by considering the sequence of accepted dates and geographical distribution of authors as well as thematic issues. It normally takes about 7 months to 1 year from submission to publication, with an average of 6 months.
